    LF Driver Fastening

    4 or 8 point? Altec manuals show 4 point.

    With the 4 spoke baskets, 4 points are critical(the 4 that are centered on the spokes) while the other 4 are more or less incidental.

    When/where possible, i prefer the use of clamps rather than bolting thru the frame as clamps tend to "spread" their clamping force a bit broader as well as they exert their force on the rim of the basket where strength is higher due to "L" formed by the basket rim where it meets the gasket/surround surface, but that's not always an option.

    My 416b's have the gasket on the outside of the frame nibbled to accept 8 fasteners through the flange of the frame. The previous owner did this, probably to get the most positive sealing of the interior gasket to the cabinet. Since I'm a recovering wrench user, I agree with his assumption, 8 fasteners tend to fasten more securely.

    Bowtie Great Advice. This is How I'm fastening my woofers on my build as I'm using 16" 416-8B's with the 4 spoke. :2thumbsup:
